North Uist Accommodation

Barpa Langais, North Uist in the Western Isles of ScotlandNorth Uist lies to the south of the Isle of Harris in the Western Isles of Scotland and, like Harris, has a population of mainly protestant faith. Lochmaddy is the main village on North Uist and where you will find the CalMac ferry terminal. While Lochmaddy is a pleasant place to visit it has little to keep the visitor occupied. Definitely worth a visit is Taigh Chearsabbagh, which is a community arts centre including a cafe, post office, gift shop and a small, but highly interesting, museum. However most people visit North Uist to take in the scenery and visit the many, nearby, neolithic sites. The photograph to the left shows one of the finest, Barppa Langais, which is an enormous chambered burial cairn. Although there is a small entrance it is considered highly dangerous, and somewhat irresponsible to enter as it is unstable and has collapsed.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be adding, to this page, a selection of the fine accommodation available on North Uist.
