Western Isles Accommodation

Welcome to Western Isles Accommodation from Enjoy Hebrides, your new gateway to the Western Isles of Scotland.

Western Isles BeachThe Western Isles are considered by many to be amongst the most beautiful places on earth. Strangely, and rather confusingly, the Western Isles are also widely (and some would say more widely) known as the Outer Hebrides. Whichever you decide to call them, the Western Isles (as we shall refer to them throughout this site) are a group of islands on the very edge of Europe off the west coast of Scotland out in the North Atlantic Ocean.

While the weather is often harsh and unforgiving there are times, especially in the summer, when these islands are the warmest in Europe and certainly get the most sunshine. With such wonderful beaches it is surprising how few people are to be found on them even in the finest of weather. Considering how remote these islands are maybe we shouldn't be surprised, but each year more and more visitors discover this natural paradise and vow to return again soon.

St KildaThere are literally hundreds of islands in the Western Isles but only a few of them are actually inhabited. Many of the previously inhabited islands have been abandoned in the last century or two and this process of depopulation continues to this day. One of the most famous cases of island depopulation was the famous evacuation of the islands of St Kilda. The photograph to the right shows the main street of St Kilda as it appears today but in 1930 this was a hustling bustling hive of activity as the last visitors took the opportunity to witness the evacuation and the last remaining islanders moved backwards and forwards passing their few possessions over to the boat evacuating them to the Scottish mainland.

The Western Isles of Scotland have, for many centuries, attracted many visitors and our site will help you to find suitable accommodation and provide some useful information to enable you to make the very most of your Hebridean vacation.
